Why turn an SVG into an ICO?

SVG is perfect for logos on a web page, but Windows cannot use it for program, folder or shortcut icons.

Older browsers, bookmarks and many tools still look for favicon.ico too.

An ICO packs your logo at several pixel sizes in one file, so it is ready wherever an icon is needed.

Sharp at every size

Many SVG icons say width="24" inside. Other converters draw them at 24 px and blow that up to 256 px - blurry.

Here the vector is drawn at 1024 px or more first, then each icon size is made from that, so the 256 px layer is as crisp as the 16 px one.

Tips for great icons from SVG

Use a square logo mark. A wide logo with text gets tiny at 16 px - the symbol alone reads much better.
Text in the SVG? Web fonts are not loaded when an SVG is drawn as a picture. Convert text to paths in your editor first.
Linked images go missing for the same reason - embed them in the SVG.
Too much empty space? Pick Crop to square, or trim the viewBox. Heavy file? Compress SVG cleans it up.
