Why Convert PDF to WebP?

Smaller File Sizes

WebP offers 25-35% better compression than JPEG and PNG, making your images load faster on websites and use less storage.

Web Optimized

WebP is supported by all modern browsers and is the preferred format for web images. Perfect for embedding PDF content on websites.

Easy Sharing

Convert PDF pages to images for easy sharing on social media, messaging apps, or embedding in presentations and documents.

Transparency Support

Unlike JPEG, WebP supports transparency (alpha channel), preserving any transparent elements from your PDF documents.

WebP Quality Settings Guide

85-100%

High quality with excellent compression. Best for documents with detailed graphics, charts, or photographs. Minimal visible difference from original PDF rendering.

70-84%

Good balance between quality and file size. Ideal for most documents, presentations, and general web use. This is the sweet spot for most conversions.

50-69%

Noticeable compression but still readable. Good for text-heavy documents where file size is more important than image sharpness.

Below 50%

Heavy compression with visible artifacts. Only recommended for quick previews or when file size is critical. Use our WebP Compressor for more control.

Lossy vs Lossless WebP

Lossy

Best for photos and complex images within PDFs. Achieves 25-35% smaller files by discarding some visual data that's imperceptible to the human eye. Quality slider controls compression level. At 80-90%, differences are virtually invisible. Great for converting to other formats later if needed.

Lossless

Best for text documents, diagrams, and graphics. Preserves every pixel perfectly with no quality loss. Files are larger than lossy but still smaller than PNG. Ideal when you need to maintain sharp text and crisp lines. Perfect for documents you might convert back to PNG.

Understanding DPI Settings

72 DPI

Web/Screen viewing: Smallest file sizes, suitable for quick web previews, thumbnails, and email attachments. Resolution matches typical screen displays.

150 DPI

Standard quality: Good balance of quality and file size. Recommended for most uses including web display, presentations, and document archiving.

300 DPI

Print quality: High resolution suitable for printing. Larger file sizes but captures fine details. Use for documents with small text or detailed graphics.

Yes! For text-heavy documents, we recommend using lossless compression or high quality (85%+) lossy compression with 150 or 300 DPI. This ensures text remains crisp and readable. For very small text, choose 300 DPI for best results.

For web viewing and screen display, 72-150 DPI is sufficient. For general purpose use, 150 DPI offers a good balance. For printing or when you need to preserve fine details, choose 300 DPI. Higher DPI means larger file sizes but more detail.

You can convert PDFs with up to 100 pages. For very large documents, we recommend using the page range feature to convert specific sections. You can also upload up to 5 PDF files at once, with each file up to 20MB in size.

Files are temporarily stored only during the conversion process and are automatically deleted within 24 hours. We don't keep copies of your documents and don't use them for any other purpose. Your privacy is important to us.

Currently, our converter does not support password-protected PDFs. You'll need to remove the password protection first before converting. Most PDF readers allow you to save an unprotected copy if you know the password.

WebP is supported by all major modern browsers including Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, and Opera. As of 2024, over 97% of web users have WebP support. For the few remaining users, you can use the HTML picture element to provide fallback images.
