There is none - they are the same format. Early versions of Windows only allowed three-letter extensions, so ".jpeg" became ".jpg". If an app only accepts .jpg, JPEG to JPG turns JPEG, JPE and JFIF files into standard JPGs.
JPG, in almost every case - a photo that is 500 KB as JPG can be 5 MB as PNG. Use JPG to PNG only when you need transparency or lossless editing.
For websites, WebP is smaller still.
