The first time you use the tool, it downloads the AI model (~40MB) to your browser. This is cached locally, so subsequent visits will be much faster. The model enables high-quality background removal without any server dependency.
You can upload PNG, JPG/JPEG, WebP, and GIF images. For output, choose PNG for transparency, WebP for smaller file sizes with transparency, or JPG for photos (background will be replaced with your chosen color). For HEIC images from iPhone, convert them first.
We use the ISNet model which provides excellent results for most images, especially portraits, products, and objects with clear edges. Complex images with hair, fur, or transparent objects may require some manual touchup. For best results, use images with good contrast between subject and background.
