How to Upscale Images

  1. Upload your image by dragging and dropping or clicking the upload area.
  2. Select your desired scale factor (1.5×, 2×, 3×, or 4×).
  3. Choose an upscaling algorithm based on your image type.
  4. Click "Upscale Image" and download your enlarged image.

Upscaling Algorithms Explained

Lanczos

The gold standard for image upscaling. Produces sharp, detailed results with minimal artifacts. Best for most use cases including photos and graphics.

Bicubic

Smooth interpolation that works well for photographs. Slightly softer than Lanczos but with less ringing artifacts around edges.

Bilinear

Fast and simple algorithm. Good for quick previews or when processing speed matters more than quality.

Nearest Neighbor

Preserves hard pixel edges without any smoothing. Perfect for pixel art, retro game sprites, and images that need crisp pixel boundaries.

When to Upscale Images

Printing

Enlarge images for high-quality prints without pixelation.

Presentations

Make images larger for slides and displays.

Old Photos

Restore and enlarge vintage or low-res photos.

Pixel Art

Scale up pixel art while keeping crisp edges.

Frequently Asked Questions

Upscaling increases the resolution (dimensions) of your image but cannot add detail that wasn't captured originally. Our advanced algorithms minimize artifacts and maintain sharpness, but the best results come from starting with the highest quality source image available.

We offer up to 4× scaling. For larger enlargements, we recommend upscaling in steps (e.g., 2× twice) rather than going directly to higher factors, as this can sometimes produce better results.

For photographs, Lanczos or Bicubic algorithms work best. Lanczos produces sharper results, while Bicubic is slightly smoother. Try both on your specific image to see which you prefer.

For pixel art, always use the "Nearest Neighbor" algorithm. This preserves the hard edges between pixels without any blurring or smoothing, keeping your pixel art looking crisp at any size.

Yes, uploaded images can be up to 10MB. The output file size depends on the scale factor and format chosen. PNG outputs will be larger but lossless, while JPG outputs are smaller but compressed.

Files are temporarily stored only during processing and are automatically deleted within 1 hour. We don't keep copies of your images or use them for any other purpose.
