JXL to PNG Converter

Turn JPEG XL images into lossless PNG files with transparency kept - for editing, design apps and anywhere JXL is not supported. Smaller files? JXL to JPG.

How to convert JXL to PNG

  1. Add your JXL files. Drop up to 50 JPEG XL files into the box, or browse for them. They are decoded in your browser - nothing is uploaded.
  2. Pick a PNG type. Standard is lossless and quick. Smallest packs the same pixels tighter, 8-bit makes tiny files for logos.
  3. Adjust if you like. Resize, change the background or rename the files. Every option starts closed and shows its value.
  4. Convert and download. Press Convert to PNG. One or two files download directly, more than two come as a ZIP.

Have JPGs to turn into JPEG XL? JPG to JXL can do it losslessly.

Why convert JXL to PNG?

PNG is the safest lossless format: every editor, browser and design app opens it.

Converting a JXL to PNG keeps every pixel and the transparency, ready for editing.

It is the right choice for graphics, screenshots and anything you will edit again.

Tips

  • Expect a bigger file - PNG is lossless and less efficient than JPEG XL.
  • Logos: pick 8-bit for tiny PNGs.
  • 16-bit or HDR JXL? Set Bit depth to 16-bit to keep every shade - HDR stays HDR in Chrome and Edge. Need TIFF for print? JXL to TIFF.
  • Animated JXL? Tick any frame under the preview, or take them all with the JXL Frame Extractor.
  • Chrome, Edge and Firefox cannot open JPEG XL themselves - this page brings its own decoder (libjxl), so it works in every modern browser. Safari 17+ uses its built-in one.
