PDF to EPUB Converter

Turn any PDF into a clean, reflowable EPUB that reads beautifully on phones, tablets, and e-readers. Our low-resource profile shrinks and grayscales images to a low DPI so even tiny devices like the Xteink open them smoothly. Once converted, open your new file in the EPUB Viewer, or shrink a large PDF first with the PDF Compressor.

Conversion mode

Reflowable keeps real, adjustable text. Image mode renders each page as a picture - use it for scanned books or PDFs whose text comes out garbled.

Reflowable text
Adjustable, searchable text that rewraps to any screen. Best for normal PDFs.
Image (fixed layout)
Each page rendered as a dithered grayscale image. Perfect for scanned or broken-font PDFs - text always looks right.

Pick how images should be handled. Smaller profiles open faster on low-power readers.

Standard e-reader
Color images up to 800px, good quality. Best for phones and modern tablets.
Low-resource device
Grayscale, 480px wide, low DPI. Built for Xteink and other ESP32-class readers.
Recommended for Xteink
Smallest file
Grayscale, 400px, lowest quality. Maximum savings when storage is tight.

Why convert PDF to EPUB?

PDFs are designed to lock a page layout in place, which is great for printing but painful to read on a small screen. Text runs off the edge and you end up zooming and scrolling endlessly. An EPUB is reflowable, so the text wraps and resizes to fit whatever device and font size you choose. Once your PDF is an EPUB, you can read it comfortably on a phone, tablet, or any e-reader, and adjust the type to your liking.

Once your EPUB is ready, you can open and read it straight away in our EPUB Viewer, and you can shrink large source PDFs first with the PDF Compressor.

Built for low-resource e-readers

Ultra-compact readers like the Xteink X3 and X4 are wonderful for distraction-free reading, but they run on very modest hardware and a black-and-white screen. A standard EPUB stuffed with large, full-color images can overwhelm them. Our low-resource profile fixes that by converting every image to grayscale, resizing it to the screen width, and dropping the DPI and quality, so the file stays small and opens quickly without choking the device.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Converting PDF to EPUB is completely free with no account needed. Bookmark us and convert as many files as you like. Once you have your EPUB, you can open and check it right away in our EPUB Viewer.

Tiny e-readers like the Xteink X3 and X4 run on very limited hardware with only a few hundred kilobytes of working memory and a black-and-white screen. A normal EPUB packed with large color images can hang or crash them. Our low-resource profile converts every image to grayscale, shrinks it to the screen width, and lowers the DPI and quality so the file stays small and opens fast.

A reflowable EPUB lets the text wrap and resize to fit any screen and font size, so there is no pinching or sideways scrolling. A PDF locks the page layout, which makes it hard to read on a small device. After converting, you can preview the result in our EPUB Viewer to see how it reflows.

Clean, single-column, text-based PDFs convert very well. Scanned PDFs and complex multi-column or graphic-heavy layouts are harder to reflow automatically and may need light cleanup. If a result looks off, try the text-only option, and feel free to contact us if you hit a snag.

Yes. Tick the "Text only" option and we strip images out, leaving a lightweight, fast-opening EPUB that is ideal for the most memory-constrained readers and for pure reading. To shrink files in other formats, see our PDF Compressor.

Your PDF is processed on our server and the temporary files are automatically deleted a few hours after conversion. We never share your documents.
