Unlike a flat PNG or JPG, a PSD preserves the full editing state: layers, groups, masks, text, and effects. PSB is the large-document variant for canvases beyond 30,000 pixels or files over 2 GB - this viewer opens both. When Photoshop saves with Maximize Compatibility, it embeds a flattened composite, which is what renders here at full quality; without it, the viewer reconstructs the visible image from the layers themselves.
PSD is for editing; PNG and JPG are for delivery.
