How to Convert RAW Files to JPG

Check the preview. Each file shows the camera's built-in preview, its size, lens and exposure. Files with only a small preview are marked.

Tips for the Best JPG

Sharing online? Pick 2048 px and 85% quality - the photo still looks great and loads fast.

Need it even smaller? Run the JPG through Compress JPG.

Posting publicly? GPS is never copied, but you can strip every detail with the EXIF Data Remover.

Want modern formats? WebP is about 30% smaller than JPG; for AVIF use JPG to AVIF.

Frequently Asked Questions

A RAW file (CR2, CR3, NEF, ARW, RAF, ORF, RW2, PEF, DNG...) is the unprocessed data from your camera's sensor. It is great for editing, but phones, websites and most apps cannot open it.

Converting to JPG, PNG or WebP gives you a photo you can share, print or post anywhere.

Every camera stores a JPEG inside the RAW file - the picture you see on the camera screen, with your white balance and picture style. The tool finds the largest one and saves it, right in your browser, so nothing is uploaded.

For a few files that preview is small; Full RAW develop then develops the sensor data on our server.

A RAW holds more editing room than any JPG, so keep the RAW as your master copy. For viewing and sharing, a 92% JPG of the camera preview looks the same as on your camera.

Pick PNG if you want a lossless file for further editing.

JPG works everywhere and keeps the camera details (EXIF). WebP is about 30% smaller for websites. PNG is lossless but 5-10 times bigger.

Some cameras only embed a 1616 to 1920 pixel preview (for example many Sony and Panasonic bodies). The file list marks those as small.

Switch to Full RAW develop to get the full resolution from the sensor data.
