No problems - every file passed.
Repaired!
Kept in this browser for 14 days, never uploaded.
ZIP won't open, or the download stopped halfway? Drop it here: the file list is rebuilt from what is left, every file is tested, and everything readable goes into a fresh ZIP with a repair report. Works for DOCX, XLSX, JAR and APK too. Just want to look inside a healthy ZIP? Use the ZIP File Viewer, or unpack it with the Archive Extractor. Nothing is uploaded.

Got a split download such as .zip.001 or .z01? Put the parts back together with the File Joiner first - a single part on its own always looks broken.
A ZIP is a row of files, each with a small local header, followed by a table of contents at the very end.
That design is why most damage is fixable: the files usually survive even when the table does not.
| Problem | Typical cause | What we can do |
|---|---|---|
| Missing central directory | Download stopped, file cut by a size limit | Rebuild the list from local headers - every complete file is saved |
| Broken central directory | Disk error, bad copy, faulty tool | Same rebuild - names, folders and dates come from the local headers |
| CRC failed | A few bytes changed in transit or on disk | Keep the file anyway if you want - most of it is usually fine |
| Unreadable data | Compressed stream scrambled | That file is lost, the others are saved |
| Cut-off last file | Download stopped inside it | Save the part that arrived (partial file) |
Healthy ZIP that just will not open in Windows? It may use AES encryption or a newer method - try the Archive Extractor or look inside with the ZIP File Viewer.
We can only recover data that is still in the file.
If half of a download never arrived, the files in that half are not on your disk - no tool can bring them back. The fastest fix is usually to download the ZIP again and compare it with the Checksum Calculator.
What repair does well is rescue everything in front of the damage, so one bad byte no longer costs you the whole archive. Sending the result to someone? Protect it with Password Protect ZIP.
Drop the ZIP on this page. The tool reads it, rebuilds the file list from the local headers if the end of the ZIP is broken, and tests every file.
Then everything that is still readable is packed into a new ZIP you can open normally. A REPAIR-REPORT.txt inside lists what was saved and what was lost.
Windows reads a ZIP from its last bytes, where the central directory (the table of contents) lives. If the download stopped early or the end is damaged, that table is missing and Windows gives up.
Most files are usually still there, though. ZIP Repair ignores the table and finds them one by one.
Only what is still in the file. Files stored in a part that was never downloaded, or whose compressed data is scrambled, are gone - no tool can invent the missing bytes.
The diagnosis tells you honestly what is OK, damaged or lost before you download anything.
Partly. Every file stored before the point where the download stopped can usually be rescued, and the file that was being cut can be saved as a partial copy.
For the rest, download the ZIP again. If it came in parts (.001, .002 or .z01), join them first with the File Joiner.
Every file in a ZIP carries a CRC32 checksum. When the unpacked data does not match it, at least one byte of that file changed - a disk error, a bad transfer or a broken copy.
You can keep such files anyway: a damaged photo may only show a grey stripe, a text file a few wrong characters. Want to compare whole files? Use the Checksum Calculator.
Yes. Office documents, EPUB books, CBZ comics, Java JARs and Android APKs are all ZIP files with another extension.
The repaired copy keeps the original extension, so a fixed DOCX opens in Word again if its key parts survived.
Yes, if you know the password - you are asked for it and it never leaves your browser.
The repaired ZIP is saved without a password, so lock it again with Password Protect ZIP before you share it.
No. The ZIP is read and rebuilt by your browser, so private files never leave your device and there is no upload wait.
Your original file is never changed - you get a new, repaired copy.
