Save the artwork
Take it apart
Need it as an icon? Save a PNG, then use Image to ICO or the Favicon Package Generator. To trace a PNG back into a scalable vector, try PNG to SVG.
Open EPS files online and see the real artwork, not just a blurry preview - no Illustrator needed. The PostScript is drawn in your browser, so your file is never uploaded. Then check fonts and spot colours and save a PNG, JPG or PDF, or turn the PNG into an icon with Image to ICO.

Shortcuts: Ctrl + O open, + / - zoom, 0 fit, 1 actual size, R rotate, Page Up / Page Down change page, Esc leaves full screen.
Ghostscript 10 runs inside your browser and draws every path, gradient and font - the same result a print RIP gives.
TIFF, EPSI and XMP thumbnails stored in the file show up in a blink while the full render loads.
Zoom in and the artwork is redrawn at a higher resolution, so small type and fine lines stay crisp.
Bounding box in points and millimetres, spot colours, process colours and CMYK ink coverage.
See which fonts are embedded or missing, and copy the text that is inside the artwork.
Multi-page PostScript documents and PDF-compatible Illustrator files open in the same viewer.
Transparent PNG, JPG or vector PDF at 72 to 600 DPI or an exact pixel width.
Nothing is uploaded. The engine is downloaded once and your file stays on your device.
EPS (Encapsulated PostScript) is a vector graphics format made by Adobe in 1987.
It holds a single drawing - a logo, an illustration, an ad - written in the PostScript page language.
Because it is a small program rather than a grid of pixels, an EPS prints sharp at any size. That made it the classic exchange format for printers, sign makers and stock-art sites, and many brand kits still ship logos as EPS.
An EPS can also carry a small preview picture (TIFF, WMF or an EPSI bitmap) so that layout apps that can not run PostScript can show something on screen. When you only see a rough or gray box in Word or InDesign, you are looking at that preview.
| Format | Made of | Opens in a browser | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| EPS | PostScript program + optional preview | No - use this viewer | Print, signs, older design workflows |
| SVG | XML text | Yes - or the SVG Viewer | Logos and icons on websites |
| Pages of vectors, text and images | Yes - or the PDF Viewer | Documents, print-ready artwork | |
| AI | Illustrator document, usually PDF inside | No - this viewer opens most | Editing in Adobe Illustrator |
No phone or computer opens EPS out of the box any more, but every browser can run this viewer.
Photos and Paint can not read EPS, and Microsoft Office stopped rendering EPS in 2017. Open the file here, or install a desktop app such as Inkscape (free) or Adobe Illustrator if you need to edit it.
Preview on macOS Ventura and newer no longer converts EPS files. Use this viewer, then Export as PDF to keep a copy that Preview and every Mac app can open.
The Files app shows EPS as a blank icon. Open this page in Safari, tap browse and pick the file from Files, iCloud Drive or Mail attachments.
Gallery apps do not support EPS. Open this page in Chrome and choose the file from Downloads or Drive; save a PNG to share it in chats.
The Export tab turns any EPS, PS or AI file into PNG, JPG or PDF without leaving your browser.
From there, ConvertICO tools take it further:
When an EPS will not show, the viewer tells you which of these it is.
Files are often renamed: a PDF, an Illustrator AI, a PNG or a ZIP from a stock site. The viewer checks the first bytes and points you to the right tool, such as the PDF Viewer or the ZIP Viewer.
An interrupted download leaves the PostScript without its end. The part that arrived is drawn and the viewer warns you that something is missing - download the file again.
Some old apps wrote PostScript that newer engines reject. You see the error name (for example /undefined), and any embedded preview is still shown.
Fonts that are named but not embedded are replaced by look-alikes. Ask for a version with text converted to outlines.
Other file types? Browse all file viewers, including the PSD Viewer for Photoshop files.
Drop the .eps file on this page. The viewer runs Ghostscript - the same PostScript engine many print shops use - inside your browser and shows the full artwork in a few seconds.
Nothing is installed and nothing is uploaded.
Apps that can not read PostScript, like Word or many image viewers, only show the small preview stored inside the EPS - or a gray box when there is none.
This viewer draws the real vector artwork, and you can still compare it with the embedded preview.
Open the file, go to Export, pick PNG or JPG and a resolution from 72 to 600 DPI (or an exact width), and press Save. PNG keeps the background transparent.
Multi-page PostScript files can be saved page by page or all at once in a ZIP.
Yes. Export as PDF keeps the artwork as vectors and text, so it stays sharp at any size and opens on any device. The PDF is made in your browser by Ghostscript.
Yes. Adobe Illustrator .ai files saved with PDF compatibility (the default since Illustrator 9) open directly, as do older PostScript-based .ai files and multi-page .ps documents.
Many EPS files only name their fonts instead of embedding them. The viewer then uses a close substitute, so letter shapes and widths can differ.
Details lists every font and whether it is embedded. Ask the designer for a version with text converted to outlines.
No. Ghostscript is downloaded once (about 11 MB) and then runs inside your browser, so the file never leaves your device.
That keeps unreleased logos and client artwork private.
Common causes are a file cut off during download, a file that is really something else (a PDF, AI, PNG or a ZIP with a different extension), or PostScript errors from an old app.
The viewer names the problem, and when the drawing fails it still shows any preview stored in the file.
EPS rendering uses Ghostscript 10.06 by Artifex Software, unmodified, under the GNU AGPL v3.
