Image to Word Converter

Turn a photo, scan or screenshot into an editable Word document - real paragraphs you can fix, format and reuse, in 48 languages. Several pages? Add up to 20 images and get one DOCX.

How to convert an image to Word

  1. Add the images. Drop photos, scans or screenshots - or paste one with Ctrl+V. Add up to 20 for a multi-page document.
  2. Choose the language. Pick the language of the text. Turn on "Put the original image in the document" under Word document if you want the picture too.
  3. Convert. Press Extract text, then check the text. Unsure words are marked on the image.
  4. Download the DOCX. Press Download Word. It opens in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, LibreOffice and Pages.

Starting from a PDF instead? PDF to Word handles digital PDFs, and OCR PDF reads scanned ones.

What you get in the Word file

  • Real paragraphs - lines are joined the way a person would type them, and words split by a hyphen at the end of a line are put back together.
  • One image, one page - with several images, each starts on a new page under its file name.
  • The picture, if you want it - handy for checking, or for forms where the layout matters.
  • Clean styling - Calibri 11 on A4, ready for your own headings and fonts.

Prefer the original line breaks? Set Line breaks to Keep lines.

Better photos, better documents

Shoot straight from above, in good light, with the page filling the frame. Flat pages read far better than curled ones.

Blurry or low-resolution? Try the Image Enhancer first. Lots of background around the page? Mark the text with Area, or crop it with the Image Cropper.
