ZIP to 7Z Converter

Convert ZIP files to 7Z right in your browser and make them smaller - 7-Zip's LZMA2 compression often saves 10-40% on documents and code. Lock the 7Z with AES-256 and hidden file names if you like. Want to pack loose files instead? Use the Archive Creator, or check a 7Z with the 7Z File Viewer.

How to convert ZIP to 7Z

  1. Drop your ZIP files. Drop one or more .zip files on the page. RAR, TAR.GZ and other archives work too.
  2. Pick the compression. 7Z with Normal compression is picked for you. Maximum squeezes a little more, a password locks it.
  3. Convert. Press Convert to 7Z. Every file is unpacked and packed again with LZMA2, folders and dates included.
  4. Download. One or two 7Z files download straight away, with the size before and after shown for each.

Need it the other way round? 7Z to ZIP turns any 7Z back into a ZIP.

Why use this ZIP to 7Z converter

Smaller archives

LZMA2 often makes documents, code and databases 10-40% smaller than the ZIP.

Hidden file names

With a password the 7Z is AES-256 encrypted and nobody can even see the names inside.

Your choice of speed

Store, Fast, Normal or Maximum - and the measured size before and after for every file.

A whole batch

Drop many ZIPs and get one 7Z per ZIP, each with the same name.

Nothing shuffled

Folders, file names and modified dates come across exactly, empty folders included.

Private and safe

Nothing is uploaded, unsafe paths are cleaned and disguised programs are flagged.

What shrinks and what does not

Text-based files shrink the most.

Documents, spreadsheets, source code, logs, CSV exports and database dumps often end up a third smaller as 7Z. Programs and fonts land somewhere in between.

JPG photos, MP4 videos, MP3 music and Office files such as DOCX are already compressed, so their size hardly changes. For those, Compress JPG or Compress PDF help much more.
