How to Edit a PDF Online

  1. Open your PDF. Drop the PDF into the box or browse for it. Every page appears in the editor with thumbnails on the side.
  2. Pick a tool. Choose Text, Image, Whiteout, a shape, Draw or Link, then click or drag on the page where you want it.
  3. Adjust it. Move, resize, restyle or delete anything you added. Undo and redo work with Ctrl+Z and Ctrl+Y.
  4. Fix the pages. Rotate, delete or insert blank pages from the thumbnail strip if you need to.
  5. Save. Press Save edited PDF. Your edits are written into the file and it downloads right away.

No PDF handy? Try the sample letter - it has a typo waiting for the whiteout trick.

What You Can Add

Text

Helvetica, Times or Courier, bold or italic, any size and colour. It stays real text you can select and search.

Images

Logos, stamps, photos and signatures in PNG or JPG. Corners keep the shape, so nothing gets squashed.

Whiteout

A cover box for typos and old dates. The eyedropper matches coloured backgrounds.

Shapes and drawing

Boxes, circles, lines, arrows and freehand ink, with line width, fill and opacity.

Links

Draw a box over any words and it becomes a clickable web or email link.

Page fixes

Rotate, delete or insert blank pages. For bigger jobs use PDF Page Reorder or Split PDF.

How to Change Text Already in a PDF

This editor adds to your PDF - it does not rewrite the words that are already there. A PDF stores text as letters placed at exact spots, not as paragraphs that reflow.

For a few words, use the whiteout trick: draw a Whiteout box over the old text, then type the new text on top with Text. Match the font and size from the Font row, and the fix is invisible.

For whole paragraphs, convert the file with PDF to Word, edit it in Word, then save it back with Word to PDF. Hiding something private? Whiteout only covers it - Redact PDF removes it for good.

Tips

  • Straight lines: hold Shift while drawing a line or arrow to snap it to 45 degrees.
  • Exact placement: select something and nudge it with the arrow keys (Shift moves 10 points).
  • Clean signature: remove the paper background first with PNG Background Remover, then add it with Image.
  • Scanned PDF? Make its text searchable with OCR PDF before or after editing.
  • Need comments, not changes? Annotate PDF adds highlights and sticky notes that reviewers can reply to.

Frequently Asked Questions

Drop your PDF in the box above. Pick a tool - Text, Image, Whiteout, a shape, Draw or Link - and click or drag on the page.

Everything you add can be moved, resized and restyled until you press Save edited PDF. There is no sign-up and no watermark.

Not in place - a PDF stores text as positioned letters, not as editable paragraphs, so this editor does not rewrite the original words. The quick fix is the whiteout trick: cover the old words with Whiteout, then type the new words on top with Text.

For heavy rewrites, convert the file with PDF to Word, edit it there, and turn it back into a PDF with Word to PDF.

Yes. Your text is written with the standard PDF fonts (Helvetica, Times and Courier, with bold and italic), so it can be selected, copied and searched in any PDF reader, and it stays sharp at every zoom level.

No - whiteout only covers it. The box hides the old words on screen and on paper, but the original text is still inside the file and can be copied out. To truly remove private details such as account numbers, use Redact PDF instead.

Select your whiteout box, open Cover colour and press Pick colour from page. Then click the page right next to the words you are hiding - the box takes that exact colour.

Yes. Use Draw to sign with your mouse or finger, or add a photo of your signature with Image (a PNG with a see-through background looks best - PNG Background Remover can make one). For a guided signing flow with initials and dates, try Sign PDF.

No. The PDF is opened, edited and saved inside your browser, so it never leaves your device. That also means big files open quickly and nothing is stored anywhere.

The standard PDF fonts cover English and most Western European languages, including accents like é, ü and ñ. Letters outside that set, such as ă or ș, are saved as the closest plain letter, and the editor tells you when that happens. Password-protected files need Unlock PDF first.
